What it Costs

As a rule of thumb, you should expect to invest 15% to 20% of the cost of your home in a professionally designed, quality landscape. This is a fairly broad rule, but over the years we have found it reliable.

If your site is fairly flat and you desire very few amenities, you can expect to stay on the lower side of this range. If your home is perched on a steep slope, has a walk-out basement, is on a very large lot and you desire patio areas for entertaining, retaining work, water features, etc. you will be in the upper end of this range. This information will help you know what to expect as a reasonable cost of professional landscaping with top quality materials and workmanship.

We cannot do every landscaping project in Montana. Our objective is to design and build the very best quality landscape features for clients that recognize and appreciate creativity and quality.

We begin by consulting with you in order to determine your needs and wants. It will be very helpful if you have a written two-column list. One column entitled "needs" or "The things we MUST have", and the other column entitled "wants" or "The things we'd really like to include".

The issue of cost almost always enters into the decision making process. It is rather easy to go "over budget" when building a new home or remodeling an existing home. Trying to make up budget over-runs on the landscaping then becomes a strong temptation. If your painter or interior decorator didn't work for nothing please don't expect it of your landscape professional.

Having thought about your landscaping plans beforehand will ease the stress and make for a better finished project.
